Languages in the system

QM365 are available in four languages: English, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish.

The system is developed in English and the other languages are added. When setting up, you can choose to deactivate one or more of the additional languages.

What language is the system displayed in?

  • The user profile's setup in AD determines which language the system is displayed in.

  • If one of these four languages is not set, the system is displayed in the basic language English.

  • If the user profile is not set, the browser's language is displayed. The different browsers have different types of menus to determine the language.

  • If the browser's language is something other than the four languages, the system displays the basic language English.

Change system language

To change the language in which the system is displayed, it is required that the user profile has not specified any language, since it trumps all other settings. You can then change the language on the system by changing the browser's language. Here we explain two different methods of how this can be done in Chrome:

Method 1: Setting in Chrome

  1. Click on the three dots at the very top right of the browser and select "Settings"

  2. Click on the menu for "Language" on the left or just search with the word "Language"

  3. If the language you need is not displayed, you must add it in the "Add language" option

  4. If the language is in the list, click on the three dots to the right of the language you want and select "Move to top" or "Move to top" - it must be at the top

  5. Then you can go back to the system and run a refresh with F5

Method 2: Setting with Chrome extension
1. By using a small additional program in Chrome (Extension), this can be done much faster and easier

2. Click on this link to install a language switcher in Chrome called “Advanced Page Language Switcher“: Advanced Page Language Switcher
PS - it is certainly possible to use other Language Switchers, but this one has worked excellently for us at SIMPLI for a long time.

3. Install the program

4. It might be an idea to remove the languages that are not relevant so that you don't have to see irrelevant choices every time you change languages

5. This way of doing it trumps method 1, so if you have Advanced Page Language Switcher installed in your Chrome, then Method 1 won't work at all!

Choice columns cannot be translated

Standard Sharepoint has a placeholder/option for translation of list names, column names and column descriptions. However, there is no placeholder for translation of choice columns. Choice columns are only available in Standard SharePoint in one language.

We have therefore added a functionality in our solution where we "add" translation of choice columns to other languages. This translation function then reads the original selection (which is English), and on the basis of this it displays the corresponding Norwegian, Swedish or Finnish selections.

This functionality is ONLY available where we have the opportunity to add our scripts. That is, inside the forms (New, Edit and Disp form) as well as in custom made pages (such as the front page of Better).

Normal modern list views have no placeholder for script, so there you will see the original selection, which is in English. We cannot change this.
